A few months ago, I was strolling through Sally’s for no particular reason (I do that from time to time) and bumped into the Beautiful Textures line. I noticed that most of the shelf was empty and I remembered watching a few reviews about the Beautiful Textures product line, so I decided to scoop one of the few items that were left on the shelf: the Moisture Butter Whipped Curl Crème. Since I am a product junkie, the Crème was pushed to the back of my hoards of products until a few weeks ago when I discovered it again in a rampage to find some conditioner. I’ve used it a few times since then and now I feel that I’ve used it enough to write you a comprehensive review.
Scent: First of all, I love the smell of this product. When I twist it in my hair and wear it at night, I am awakened to a lovely smell. The scent (to some) may be a bit strong, but I enjoy it. It reminds me of a tropical fruit (can you tell I am not good at scent recognition). I remember the first time I used this product; my boyfriend was enamored with the smell of my hair. He asked me a few times what I was wearing. LOL. I had to admit it was my hair that smelled so good. Since then, I’ve watched and read a few reviews where people had complaints regarding the scent of the product saying that it was overwhelming. I enjoyed it! The scent is one of my favorite characteristics of the Moisture Butter Whipped Curl Crème.
Price: I can definitely dig the price of this particular product. As a product junkie, I’ve seen some companies charge an arm, leg and your first born for their product that doesn’t perform or smell as well. I was able to get the Moisture Butter for about $6.49 on sale at Sally’s. I believe the normal pricing for the 8oz size is $7.99. That is an awesome price for the size in the natural hair care world. Another plus is the fact that there are Sally retail locations all over, so it is easy to pick up on the ground instead of ordering online. I haven’t looked to see if it is sold anywhere else in my home area.
Consistency: The product’s consistency is that of a typical Butter. It’s pretty smooth and thick. It’s very easy to rub between your palms to ‘melt’ prior to application. I have a thin texture of hair so I have to watch how much I use. Usually I divide my hair into 6 sections and each section I use about a dime sized amount starting the application at my ends and moving upward toward the root of my hair. Being heavy-handed is not good if you have my texture of hair. Too much product would tend to weigh your hair down.
Ingredients: I’ve included the ingredient list for the beautiful textures line right here for your review. https://strengthofnature.com/store/beautiful-textures
Ingredients for the Moisture Butter: Aqua, Olea Europaea Fruit Oil/Olive Oil, Glycine Soja Oil/Soybean Oil, Caprylic/Capric Triglycerides, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, PEG 75 Lanolin, Cetearyl Alcohol, Ceteareth 20, Cetyl Alcohol, Argania Spinosa Nut Oil/Argan Oil, Cocos Nucifera Oil/Coconut Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii Fruit/Shea Butter, Mangifera Indica Seed Butter/Mango Butter, Rosmarinus Officinalis Leaf Extract/Rosemary Extract, Dimethicone, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract/Aloe Vera, Phenyl Trimethicone, Panax Ginseng Root Extract/Ginseng Extract, Polysorbate 20, Imidazolidinyl Urea, DMDM Hydantoin, CI 15985/Yellow 6, Parfum/ Fragrance, Benzyl Benzoate, Benzyl Salicylate, Coumarin, d-Limonene, Hexyl Cinnamal, Lyral, Methyl Ionone Gamma.
I know some will have issues with this product because it does not contain all natural ingredients. I didn’t have a problem using the product because—although I am moving toward an all holistic lifestyle—I cannot sit here and eat some chips and then complain that the product that I am using is not all natural. I’m just being honest with you guys. As I move more toward a more all natural…even more holistic lifestyle, I will begin to remove all products that are not all natural from my regimen. Until then, I do not have a problem using the Moisture Butter since it does not contain the terribly harmful ingredients that we are always warned about.
My Overall Review:
I enjoyed using the Beautiful Textures Moisture Butter. I’ve used it mostly to Smooth Hairline Edges and to achieve a more defined two strand twist. After use of the butter, my hair is stretched, my curls are defined and moisturized, and my hair smells awesome. One of the downfalls of the product is the ingredients. There are a lot of natural ingredients but a considerable amount of non-natural ingredients in the formula. I enjoy the price of this particular product and the fact that it is available to me to pick up instead of ordering only online. I recommend this product to those who do not have a problem with the ingredients in this product and who loves to have moisturized, beautiful smelling hair.
